In 2007, I packed my Subaru with 500 pounds of baggage and hit the road with my one-woman play Crazy Bag. The auto-biographical prodigal-daughter, coming-of-age play about my journey as a minister's daughter and single mother brought me to back Asheville where it all began. The show was performed for the N.C. Stage Catalyst Series and on the main stage at Asheville Community Theatre before I decided it was time to put the bags away.
In 2010, I met “matching luggage,” had another baby, started a real family and, in our first year of marriage, found out my husband had bone marrow cancer.
Carry On provides insights into what to do when the items you have stored neatly in the overhead compartment shift or fall out when life hits turbulence, or worse, begins to free fall into the terror of the unknown.
Carry On will be performed, in its entirety, on the ACT Mainstage in downtown Asheville in September, 2017.
I invite you to be a part of the journey of this new work.
